James Whitelock
Managing Director

James knows his stuff, which is unsurprising with over 15 years in the online and digital world. Working his way up from a developer to Digital Strategy Manager and now Managing Director of ThinkinCircles.
He loves working with clients to bring their vision to life. After almost two decades in the recruitment industry, James started ThinkinCircles to support recruitment businesses to stand out from the crowd.
What is the best advice you’ve ever received?
Running a business can be as hard or as easy as you want it to be. You’re the boss, you decide.
What’s your personal philosophy?
Regret the things you did, not the things you didn’t.
What’s your biggest learning experience?
The first year of running ThinkinCircles was difficult, so difficult that I was applying for full time jobs. After talking with a few close colleagues and friends I gave it one more go. Things started to turn around, I met Richard and the business took off. So what did I learn? Some of the biggest obstacles are in your head.
Richard Blamire
Creative Director

With over 35 years’ experience (the past 25 years in Digital and Online), Richard adds to ThinkinCircles his unique blend of advertising, marketing and digital expertise. He has successfully delivered award winning innovative solutions across a range of different industries, including retail, financial services, education, public sector and travel.
His skills and experience cover all spectrums of online marketing, development and delivery. These include e-recruitment systems and processes, e-commerce, corporate websites and bespoke projects for clients. He has delivered hosting and infrastructure solutions for clients of all sizes and consulted on best practice in areas such as accessibility, usability and online marketing strategy.
What is the best advice you’ve ever received?
Never be afraid to go out of your comfort zone. It’s the only way to grow and develop.
What’s your personal philosophy?
The old Golden Rule works well I think – Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. Simple really.
What’s your biggest learning experience?
Discovering the internet way back in 1998. A whole new industry where everything was new, it’s been a learning experience every day since then!
Kat Allenby
Marketing Consultant

Having worked for some of the largest names in recruitment, Kat is a consummate recruitment marketing professional. What Kat doesn’t know isn’t worth knowing. With experience in delivering 360 marketing strategies she’ll be someone you want on your team, lucky for ThinkinCircles, she’s on ours.
What is the best advice you’ve ever received?
Firstly – Never assume! Assumptions are the mother of all muck ups.
And secondly – there is no such thing as a silly question. Better to ask and fully understand, plus you can’t always Google everything in life. Chances are too, you’re not the only one who didn’t quite understand and someone else will usually be pleased you asked!
What’s your personal philosophy?
Be honest, be kind, be yourself, and have fun. Oh, and drink wine…always have wine.
What’s your biggest learning experience?
Probably being made redundant and subsequently deciding to go it alone and set up as an independent freelancer. Processing losing your job can be a pretty big deal, as can learning all the new things that come with being self-employed. The last 4 years have been incredible – I’ve grown so much more both as a person and a marketer.
Fiona Housiaux
Marketing Consultant

Fiona has built her marketing career on a passion for people and numbers. Having begun her career in e-commerce and search, Fiona has spent over a decade in the recruitment industry building marketing strategies and campaigns for national and international recruitment players.
She is borderline obsessive about candidate acquisition, client communication and all things online, particularly SEO, PPC and SMO.
What is the best advice you’ve ever received?
It’s a cliche, but failing to prepare is really preparing to fail. There may be some people that can wing it, I’m not one of them.
What’s your personal philosophy?
Be brave, what’s the worst that could happen?
What’s your biggest learning experience?
I failed my first year of university (too much partying and not enough time in the library). Having to explain to my friends and family that I had to resit first year exams was tough and embarrassing. However it taught me resilience and dedication. I picked myself up, studied, passed, finished my degree, got my masters and the rest is history.
Chris Beechey
Marketing Consultant

In the beginning, Chris really struggled with imposter syndrome, telling himself,”I’m only 7 years into my career… Surely, I don’t have enough experience yet?”
Fast forward 18 months, having worked with various recruitment companies to achieve some fantastic results, he’s realised just how much he does know. So what has he learnt? Believe in yourself and trust the process.
What is the best advice you’ve ever received?
Don’t let perfect get in the way of good!
What’s your personal philosophy?
Don’t let the fear of failure hold you back and celebrate every success, no matter how small.
What’s your biggest learning experience?
My biggest learning experiences came from starting work as a freelancer. Compared to being employed, it’s a completely different world and all of your skills are really put to the test!
